Preventative Maintenance Inspection (PMI)
The AST repair and inspection shop is responsible for known or predictable maintenance requirements that are planned or programmed and accomplished on either a short- or long-range schedule. This includes accomplishment of recurring scheduled maintenance inspections and servicing (PE/PMI), compliance with TCTO other than the immediate action category, accomplishment of scheduled time change items replacements, and correcting discrepancies. All Support Equipment entering AST's repair and inspection shop facilities undergoes a technical inspection in accordance with applicable inspection work cards, technical orders, manuals, and regulations. The purpose of this inspection is to record the absence of any ancillary equipment and/or component considered by the applicable technical order or manual to be part of the complete end item. This inspection is also conducted to detect apparent signs of abuse or misuse and to determine required services.

When all portions of the required inspection have been completed and the work order signed off, all end items of equipment receive an acceptance by AST's Quality Control Inspector and/or Shop Supervisor. This inspection will be accomplished utilizing the appropriate work cards or technical data.

All major and minor deficiencies, including any unsafe conditions, are annotated on a quality control inspections summary form and given to the Shop Supervisor for corrective action.
